Undisputed “King Of Ghetto Rock” Billy Ray Rock

Billy Ray Rock is a singer, songwriter, producer, musician and visionary. He is a different type of artist who makes a different type of music. Billy Ray Rock wants to rock, and rock hard but he also wants people to feel his passion about socials issues as he sings about in the ever popular single “Time Keep on“ from his album titled “Bad News”.  As Billy Ray puts it, “if I’m not making a difference then why would I do this”.

What drew you to the music industry?
The creative opportunity to create something that will be around for generations for people to hear and appreciate.

Who are you inspired by?
Prince Lenny Krafitz the music precision of Earth Wind a Fire

Please explain your creative process
I Come up with a general them for a song create the music write the Chorus then verse, Record it set it aside for 24 hours then re listen mix it let sit for another 24 hours then master and shelf it!

What’s an average day like for you?
Wake up work out practice riffs on my bass guitar, practice my scales and scatting with my vocals update my social media watch a little TV spend some time with my family just a few of the things that fill my day.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
No, it is what you hear.

Do you collaborate with others?
I do but only if the persons skill level for a sound or solo is superior to mine What is that process? I have to believe that what they bring to a part of the song will improve the overall perception of the song I contact them and we make it happen.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans
I have a fan base I lovingly call “Ray Rockers” I offer contest trivia about my life etc. and give away tons of Billy Ray Rock memorabilia.

What is your favorite part about this line of work?
Making people day better without having to be there in person around the globe with my music. 

Your least favorite?
Not being able to be there in person.  

Why?
The Pandemic

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
Nope!

Tell me about your favorite performance venues
Floranteen Garden, LA, Ca They filmed the movie the Body Guard there (I’m sure it’s been sold etc. by now).

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
DO NOT follow my footsteps make your own!!
