Many have heard the name and listened to the music of Shamoun. But who is this newcomer and is he here to stay? We sat down with the music producer and DJ to get all the answers.
Dillon Shamoun, known professionally by his stage name Shamoun, grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Music and the music industry had caught his eye from a young age. “EDM and house music wasn’t mainstream yet but Detroit is where techno music originated. So I grew up around that type of music and always loved it,” he told us.
While studying management and marketing at Michigan State University, Shamoun taught himself how to produce music. Creating track after track, he began to upload his music to SoundCloud. He quickly gained the support of his peers which led to him DJing local shows throughout college. Shamoun’s ability to quickly produce music also made him a very sought out teacher. Friends and others who had heard of him who were interested in producing music started contacting him to learn the ins and outs of the skill. As the genre of music continued to grow into mainstream popularity, Shamoun found yet another way to apply his talents: music festivals.
Dillon Shamoun joined Prime Social Group in 2017. Prime Social Group is a marketing, artist management and festival production company specializing in the music industry. Shamoun joined as a managing partner specializing in branding and talent acquisition. Throughout his time with Prime Social Group, Shamoun helped coordinate and produce over sixteen music festivals per year all around the world. Some of these festivals include Prime Music Festival, Breakaway Music Festival, Haunted Fest and Abroad Fest. As a talent acquisition specialist, Shamoun met countless A-List artists in the industry. “This was the most crucial part of launching my Shamoun brand,” he said.
Dillon Shamoun launched his brand using the stage name, Shamoun. Shamoun played at every festival Prime Social Group produced. This exposure coupled with the relationships Shamoun built from booking artists for the festival is what made the Shamoun brand successful from the very start. Since his debut, Shamoun has released multiple singles including his track with Laura Page which has already amassed over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone. Shamoun has also released official remixes for many well-known artists such as Quavo, Frank Walker and TELYkast. His remixes for Frank Walker and TELYkast each have over 75,000 streams on Spotify.
So what’s next for Shamoun? To answer your question in two words: new music. The creative chatted with us about his newest release ‘Alone’. Rise’ which was released on April 17, 2021, quickly became a favorite among fans and industry professionals. This is Shamoun’s first original track since ‘Back to the Start’ and it’s clear he definitely did not disappoint.
“I’ve been working on ‘Alone’ for a while now. After having such an amazing response to ‘Back to the Start’ and the remixes I’ve done, I wanted to make sure that my next original song wouldn’t disappoint. When creating it I was definitely inspired by the time I spent producing music festivals. I wanted to be able to recreate that indescribable good vibe and feeling you get at festivals, even if listeners were just sitting at home.”
Based on what we’ve seen so far it’s safe to say that this is just the beginning for Shamoun. “I definitely plan on creating more original music in the near future. I’m hoping to release my first EP eventually. I’m also working on several other new remixes for some big artists. I can’t say who but I know fans won’t be disappointed.”
