Mason McNulty Hollywood’s Hottest Young Star

Born in Southern California, Mason McNulty got his start in the industry at 3 months old in a PSA for the state of Utah. Since then, he has landed numerous television and film roles. As a young child, Mason’s career took off when he booked a recurring role on the long-running daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. That was soon followed by roles on such hit shows as Modern Family alongside Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen, Glee with Jane Lynch, and Melissa & Joey starring Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart. His next big recurring role was on Sequestered with Jesse Bradford and Patrick Warburton. Most notably Mason can be seen in the recurring role of Toby Murphy on Schooled, a spin-off of The Goldbergs, starring Tim Meadows and Bryan Callen. His next project is the Lionsgate film Catch the Bullet alongside Jay Pickett which will be released in the fall. When not working, Mason enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering to help those less fortunate. A typical teen, Mason enjoys hanging out with his friends, watching movies, playing video games, or making Tik Toks.

HI! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS MASON MCNULTY IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I would say I am a fun guy to be around. I love playing video games with my friends such as Minecraft, Roblox, and Genshin Impact.  I live with my mom, dad, and my dog Dauby who is a mini dachshund. I have a couple of lightsabers from Star Wars Trading Post at Disneyland and I guess you could say I am a self-taught “Jedi”.  I do a LOT of cool tricks and some of them are really hard to do, but I’m still practicing I would consider myself a die-hard Star Wars geek.

HOW AND WHEN EXACTLY DID YOU REALIZE YOU HAD THE PASSION FOR ACTING AND WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ROLE?
Well, I’ve been acting since I was 3 months old, so I don’t really have any recollection of when I first started acting but my mom always tells me about my first job. Back in 2006, I did a PSA for the state of Utah called Safe Surrender Baby. It’s funny my mom and dad told me that I was sleeping the whole time I was working.

HOW IMPORTANT IS DEVELOPING A PERSONAL STYLE WHEN IT COMES TO ACTING?

I have taken many different acting classes and have learned from different instructors. So I would say it’s super important when you are developing your personal style because it sets you apart from everybody else and it makes you proud of the characters you create.

OUT OF SO MANY ROLES THAT YOU HAVE PERFORMED AS AN ACTOR, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY?
My favorite role I have ever played would be Chad from “Catch the Bullet”.  Playing Chad was by far the most challenging role yet. I really had to dive deep into different emotions for the role. I also did a lot of physical acting such as sliding down hills. The other role that was another favorite was playing Toby Murphy on the hit ABC show “Schooled”. I found when playing Toby that I really was just playing me. The fun loving wanting to make everyone happy kind of kid.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR LATEST MOVIE “CATCH THE BULLET”
The movie “Catch the Bullet” follows young Chad after he is kidnapped by the outlaw Jed who escaped from prison. Jed is looking for revenge on Chad’s  dad Brett MacMasters for putting him in prison after he was found guilty for committing crimes.

WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
My biggest influence would be my mom, dad, and my sister Megan! They are so amazing and they have been my biggest cheerleaders since I started in the industry and that has meant the whole world to me. My mom and dad are hard working which has made me want to work just as hard as they have. My sister and I have14 years between the 2 of us but I couldn’t imagine her not being my best friend. She helps me all the time. She gives me advice and  I respect that because she has been through a lot more because she is older.

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
Something that I think would surprise you is that I love to write and create stories. I love to see my thoughts come out on paper.  I recently wrote and completed a short film story.  I have one in the process and after that, I have an idea for another one. I hope that someday I will be able to actually film and direct one of my stories.

ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
I have nothing up and coming right now but that can always change!

WHAT IS ONE MESSAGE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE TO YOUR FANS?
I would like everyone to know that do not ever give up on what you believe or in your dreams. I am here to say that “DREAMS” do come true. But to make those “DREAMS” come true you do have to work hard and stay focused.
