Interview With Winning Records CEO Felix Ghost
Felix Ghost CEO of Winning Records, has seen music as a crucial part of his life journey and culture. His passion for music started when he began supporting his friends that are in the industry, the more he helped his friends, the more he understood how powerful music could be. He started to see and feel the fulfilment that music can offer to artists, fans and listeners; and that struck a chord inside him. Being part of a music culture that can change the world and the views of others is powerful and that is something that we can have a great influence over.
After studying for a degree in Business Management and focusing on Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Felix started to help others to flourish in the industry and he started to work with the likes of Sona and YFS (Afrobeats artist)
HEY FELIX! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! APART FROM WRITING POETRY, WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO AS A HOBBY?
Apart from the time that I spend on writing, I enjoy playing football and lifting weights in the gym.
WHAT MADE YOU GO INTO ENTREPRENEUR DIVERSIFICATION?
Having many streams of income is the key to being successful and secure. Once I find something I love doing, and I am interested in, I just get my business mind on right away. Over the years, I have been involved in many business ventures, such as real estate and farming.
My inspiration for business began at a young age after discovering that my father become a billionaire at the age of 21. He had many businesses, property portfolios, buying and selling luxury cars, and owning multiple plantations for farming.
I have had an interest in music for a very long time, but more so, I have seen others proper and enjoyed the privilege of working with a global star “Davido” when he received his hard-earned BET award in 2017. These opportunities heave fed into the reason I started Winning Records.
AS A WRITER AND ENTREPRENEUR, HOW HARD HAS IT BEEN TO START AND ARRIVE WHERE YOU ARE AT TODAY?
I have learnt to understand that challenges are inevitable in life. Having 8 children with 7 different mothers is something I take on and embrace, as I do with every challenge as it comes. We are always learning – the darkest nights display the brightest stars. I know with every struggle in business I will come out stronger and it is all worth it. I am most grateful for the growth that has come through throwing myself in as an entrepreneur.
IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL THAT YOU DO TO GET INTO A CREATIVE MINDSET?
I prefer boosting my mood by reading books, doing Yoga, and going out to travel alone. Travelling helps me relax and works like a charm whenever I am struck with new ideas.
WE HAVE HEARD THAT WINNING RECORDS IS LOOKING TO EXPAND GLOBALLY, IS THAT TRUE?
Of course, this is something we are already working on. We are working with artists already in Nigeria & we hope to work with others to give them an opportunity to get heard.
I love giving back, so with a platform such as Winning Records I think myself and my team can really make this happen.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR SOMEONE WANTING TO FOLLOW IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS?
Taking the first step is the hardest part in business – when you question yourself wondering if you should take the leap or not – just do it.
Don’t stop working, believe in yourself and make sure you have a great team around you. They say you become the 5 people surround yourself with – so that is really important.
