HEY MOLLY, THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS MOLLY LOVETTE IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I am a country artist and songwriter with big dreams! I grew up surrounded by music – my mom and grandma singing to me, my dad playing the guitar, etc. I’ve been singing and writing since I was a little girl, and that passion I had for music only grew as I got older. After my freshman year at Murray State University, I knew that pursuing my music was what I was meant to do in life. With my friends and family by my side, I left school and am going for my country music dream!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE? HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS?
My musical style is country with a touch of rock and pop. My style has definitely evolved over the years. I grew up listening to and performing all genres of music, but country music is what really stuck with me.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
I find inspiration in life experiences of mine and those around me. Finding something that is relatable to a number of people (a feeling, a place, an idea) is inspiring and pushes me to write.
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR CAREER (OTHER ARTISTS, FAMILY, FRIENDS, ETC.)
I grew up listening to Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood and knew that I wanted to be just like them someday. I have definitely created my own path and am my own person, but I owe a lot of who I am as an artist to those artists I grew up with like Taylor and Carrie. My parents have influenced my career immensely. When I first told them that I wanted to pursue my music full time, without hesitation they said “Let’s do it.” Their constant support pushes me in my career and love for music.
WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS LIKE FOR MAKING MUSIC?
I usually have some sort of idea when I begin writing – maybe one line or one word that will be the focus of the song. I jot down anything and everything going through my head, mess around with some chords on the guitar, and out comes a song!
WHAT DO YOU DO TO GROW YOUR PERSONAL BRAND?
Social media plays such a vital role in the music industry, so I really try to stay prevalent by posting and interacting with fans and other artists.
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR LATEST SINGLE “ONE WOMAN SHOW.” WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
One Woman Show is an empowerment anthem! This song is a reminder to everyone that it is okay and necessary to give yourself a break, take time for yourself, and just “do you” for a while. The message of One Woman Show was one that I had wanted to write about for a while. Going to an all girl high school, we were always taught independence and that us women can do anything. I think this song is really perfect for my life right now. I am just moving to Nashville and really beginning a lot of this whole journey. I’m sure there will be times in the near future where I will need the reminder that I am a “One Woman Show” and everything will be okay.
