Rain or shine, sleet, or snow—how to avoid letting your excuses stop you from working out?
If you have to force yourself to go to the gym, the thought of an upcoming workout causes fatigue, and you fail to progress, first diagnose the problem. You might be experiencing overtraining or vitamin deficiency. If so, you should change the training program, take vitamins and get quality rest to get you back in the routine.
Don’t indulge in laziness and apathy.
Here are some simple ways to motivate yourself for sports that will help you regain interest in training and make you take up the dumbbells again.
Ask yourself the correct question: “Why do I do sports, and do I need to at all?” For example:
• I want to lose 10 kg in 2 months.
• I need to fit into a new dress.
• To build muscle.
• To be healthy.
• I want to become an example for my child.
• I want to live an active life.
When there is a goal at hand and you give the goal purpose, then there will be motivation to achieve your goal.
Write on your Facebook page, Instagram, or anywhere else a post that you’re publicly committing to play sports, and it won’t end until the goal is achieved (see paragraph above). When you make a promise not only to yourself but also to all real and virtual friends at the same time, the degree of accountability increases. And if you meet a friend and you are asked about your sporting success, will you answer: “Oh, I don’t train, I’m too lazy”? No, no, wrong answer!
Don’t put off the weights until tomorrow if you can lift them today. Seriously. If you want to go to workout then go to workout right now, there’s no need to wait for an opportunity, good weather, or getting new sneakers.
If you follow the same program for a long time, you can get bored, and lazy, and lose all interest in sports. Change it up: fitness club, trainer, fitness direction, number of repetitions and training days, switch from home workouts to club workouts and vice versa.
Human psychology is arranged in such a way that if you pay for something, you are more inclined to use the product or service. Even if you become very, very lazy to go to training, the realization that you have paid for a subscription or a fitness marathon will spur you not to miss classes. Why waste your money? Get up and go.
This point is about inspiration, not envy. Choose a couple of famous people from the world of sport who managed to build an ideal body, read their stories, watch their training process progress.
Subscribe to professional trainers who share the success stories of their clients on social networks.
All of this should give you a wow-effect and inspire athletic performance.
Of course, if a person wants to play sports, they will do so in standard workout shorts. But for some, the purchase of a beautiful sports outfit or a bottle, a fitness bracelet, some equipment for home workouts can be a powerful incentive to conduct a full workout right now and get you motivated.
But there is one potential distraction to avoid: Don’t get stuck in the selection and purchase process for too long.
Some people need a good kick, and some people give kicks. Find yourself a mentor. This can be a personal trainer, friend, spouse, or parent. The task of the mentor is to keep you accountable to your goal, to motivate, praise, and support the sports spirit in every possible way.
How to get motivated? Fair competition is a good motivator. Who will run the most on the treadmill, you or your friend? Who will lose weight by the summer, you or a friend? Who has the best abs? Who lifts more weight? Challenge your friends and acquaintances from the gym. This won’t motivate only you, but others as well. It’s also good to compete with yourself.
We wish you much motivation and pleasure in your fitness endeavors. After all, anything is done with positivity always leads to great results. What motivates you to train?
