HELLO TORI, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS TORI KAY IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
Hello! Thank you so much for chatting with me! I am Tori Kay a singer, dancer, actress, and social media host. I would describe myself and my music as fun, upbeat, and vibrant!

YOU’VE SAID YOU’RE LATEST SINGLE “THAT’S MY BAD” IS A NEW CHAPTER IN YOUR MUSIC CAREER. HOW IS THAT?
I turned 19 in October and I really wanted to capture how I’m feeling as a young woman. I’m exploring who I am, what I want to present to the world, and what I want my music to sound like. My newest single “That’s My Bad is a new, updated, and more mature version of who I am today and what I want to talk about. I tweaked my genre from being Pop to now Urban/Trap Pop.

WHAT IS YOUR NEWEST SINGLE “THAT’S MY BAD” ABOUT?
“That’s My Bad” is based on an experience I had at an event in LA where I felt I wasn’t taken seriously because I am a female. I was at an event and a man walked up to me, asking me who I am and what I do. After chatting back and forth for a few minutes I became really excited to make a potential business connection with him. I told him I would give him my business card and as I reached to grab it out of my purse, he laughed at me and said he wasn’t interested and that he had just wanted to have a drink with me. I was so shocked and immediately declined his offer as I am underage and I obviously was not interested in that kind of situation. I went to my guy friend that I had gone to the event with and he reacted to what had just occurred by saying “well what did you expect?? look at what you’re wearing?” I was so shocked by this. As an artist and fashionista, I am always wearing outfits that draw attention but not for THAT reason. I became very frustrated and conflicted, so I went to the studio and wrote this song to tell other females that they can wear whatever they want to that makes them feel confident and still be a successful entrepreneur at the exact same time.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A SINGER & ACTOR?
I was born to perform and as a little girl, I would sing and dance in front of the tv so my brothers would have to pay attention to me. No, it does not run in the family. I started taking classes and training professionally at the age of 2 as a competitive dancer in Texas. The competition studio I went to also had a theatre department. I decided that I wanted to try out theatre and ended up falling in love with acting. At that time, I also became obsessed with the TV show ‘Shake It Up’ on Disney Channel, that’s what led me to singing and wanting to take vocal lessons and perform.

ARE YOU MORE OF AN ACTOR OR MORE OF A SINGER?
I feel I’m always asked out of all my passions which is my favorite and the truth is I don’t really have one. Balancing them all has been a challenge but I love everything that I do. During quarantine, I’ve done a lot self-tapes and zoom auditions as I’m sure so many fellow actors/actresses relate to. I’ve also been on set shooting commercials and also a pilot for a series that I’m very excited for everyone to see. But I also have released two new songs and been in the studio almost nonstop.

WHO ARE SOME ARTISTS YOU HOPE TO COLLABORATE WITH THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER?
Some of my biggest musical inspirations are Jessie J, Britney Spears, and P!nk. It would be absolutely insane to collaborate with any of these amazing female artists. I love Jessie J because of the soul and depth in her voice. Britney Spears has always been an inspiration because she successfully took a Disney career and became one of the biggest pop artists that we know today. I also love P!nk because of how meaningful her music is. I love what she stands for and how much of a risk-taker she is.

WHAT IS THAT ONE THING THAT YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR MIND WHILE PREPARING YOUR CONTENT?
Every time I’m filming a video for my YouTube Channel, posting behind the scenes clips on my story, a dance video on TikTok, creating a post for Instagram, etc I am always thinking about how it could make people feel. As an artist, my passion is to encourage people to embrace their true, authentic selves and that they can do anything they put their minds to. It is extremely important to spread positivity but also to spread light on the struggles I go through as well. Letting people know they are not alone and are amazing just the way they are is something I’m always keeping in mind while creating any kind of content.

ANY EXCITING THINGS YOU HAVE GOING ON RECENTLY?
I have a lot of exciting and new things I have been working on! Along with my vlogs #ToriKayTV on my YouTube Channel, I have now launched #ToriKayTrends where I am doing regular try-on hauls from some of favorite brands I work with. Taking you through how I style each look. I also created an Instagram Filter for my newest single “That’s My Bad” it is a purple glitter lip filter! I have been doing lots of giveaways recently and have one coming up in the next few weeks in collaboration with Candy A Plenty where I’ll be giving away personalized gluten/dairy-free vegan lollipops with my logo on them! I am also performing and judging at nationals for the pageant system National American Miss during Thanksgiving week!
