The Real Estate Industry Is Set To Be Transformed By James Vitas

The entrepreneurial journey of James Vitas began in 2004 when he started VMD Companies from his basement at the age of 19. James Vitas built VMD Companies into a powerhouse with relentless determination, perseverance, and an unfathomable work ethic. Founded in New England, VMD Companies embodies an entrepreneurial, creative, hands-on approach to real estate.

Vitas specializes in commercial real estate, from acquisition to entitlement to financing, leasing, and dispositions. By leveraging equity syndication and creative debt structuring, James Vitas focuses on opportunistic and value-added investment strategies to maximize the firm’s yields. In addition to the firm’s LP base and lending relationships, James Vitas works closely with its high-profile network. As Executive Chairman, Vitas has guided the company through years of significant growth, including the Great Recession, credit crunch, and COVID-19 pandemic. James Vitas is accustomed to navigating challenging times and complex transactions. With projects from New England to South Florida, VMD Companies has actively overseen and invested in excess of $1 Billion in real estate under James Vitas’ leadership.

In the past few years, VMD Companies has grown into a tycoon and has won many prestigious awards. VMD Companies received the project of the year award in 2012 from the New Hampshire Planners Association and American Society of Civil Engineers. VMD Companies won the same award again in 2016. James Vitas’ most coveted achievement is the largest net lease transaction in US history. For $52 million, James Vitas acquired the NECCO facility at 827,336 square feet, which he then sold 18 months later for $355 million.

James Vitas enjoys sharing his wisdom with young hungry entrepreneurs, as he was once taught by his mentor. He advises his mentees “To completely immerse themselves in any business they choose to pursue.  Obsessing over detail and living in a constant state of paranoia, is what makes you win. Not talking or bragging about what you do, but letting your hard work speak for itself.”

A bright future looks to be in store for VMD Companies under James Vitas’ leadership. Throughout its vertically integrated history, VMD Companies has operated through multiple divisions and disciplines. To stay contrarian, VMD Companies has always looked around the corner towards the next best thing. By leveraging an institutional platform, VMD Companies is positioned to succeed as technology continues to evolve. As part of its five-year plan, VMD Companies will invest in alternative investments, specifically multiple offshoots that will allow it to pivot and capitalize across other alternative asset classes. The uncertain times ahead will certainly not stop James Vitas from dominating. Be on the lookout for all the fantastic investments VMD Companies have underway.
