The Media Entrepreneur Making A Difference With Feel Good Stories
Hi, Welcome to ABOUT INSIDER! Can you introduce yourself to our audience?
My name is Tom McGowan, I’m a 25-year-old entrepreneur in the media industry. I graduated from
University of Maine at Farmington with a bachelors in business economics and then went on to
Husson University to get my Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Tell us about All Things Good News?
All Things Good is a media company I started with the goal to provide only good news and good
stories. I felt there was too much negativity, politics, etc. in the media industry. There needed to be
more stories that uplift humanity. All Things Good provides feel good stories, daily good news, and
soon to be tv production. Our goal is to create series and documentaries that make you smile and
feel inspired.
Why did you choose to start a business in the media industry?
I realized there was a hole in the market, something that hadn’t been done before. It seemed like the
news was transforming into this powerful industry that was becoming more opinionated than factual.
I wanted to alleviate some of the stress and negativity in the industry with a media/news company
that made everyone feel good. What people don’t realize is media is the most powerful industry in
the world. An industry that teaches the global population on how they should think about a certain
topic. So imagine if a media company joined those ranks that made people help others more.
Humanity would take a giant step forward.
Biggest challenges as an entrepreneur?
As an entrepreneur you’re in the business of getting punched in the face. It’s not about how many
punches you can land, but how many you can take. Financial security to start can be a struggle.
You’re constantly searching for that next paycheck in the beginning, but once you keep going and
fight off some punches, you’ll get yourself to the late rounds of the match and be ready to go.
Another struggle can be acceptance and understanding. Sometimes as an entrepreneur it can feel
like you’re on an isolated island going all out for an idea that no one believes in but yourself. Always
stay true to yourself and have an internal belief system. There’s always going to be people that don’t
believe in you. Ignore them and remember why you started.
What’s your most memorable experience as an entrepreneur?
There’s quite a few… some bad, some good. Most memorable was just working my ass off and
eventually getting rewarded down the road. Sometimes the most memorable memories are not the
big glamorous ones that others see, but the ones where you’re up until 2am writing business
models, strategies, content for the week, etc. Those are the best to look back at because it feels
good knowing how hard you’ve worked.
Who are your favorite entrepreneurs that you follow?
I’m a big fan of Elon Musk. I love the drive he has, but also his ability to see a vision and make it
happen. The stuff he’s doing is going to help humanity for a long time. Some of my other favorite
entrepreneurs include Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs, and others. I tend to lean towards tech
entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs making a difference in the world.
What’s next for you?
Continue to build the All Things Good brand until we get to the next phase of production. I truly think
this media company can change the world in terms of perspective and how we treat others. Just
need to keep grinding and pushing to grow the brand.
