Supreme Court upholds 10% quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)

Today, the Supreme Court issued its ruling on the constitutionality of the 103rd Constitutional Amendment, which established a 10% reservation for members of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in public employment and education. A five-judge panel that included the Chief Justice of India, UU Lalit, Justices Dinesh Maheshwari, S Ravindra Bhat, Bela M Trivedi, and JB Pardiwala heard the case over the course of seven days.

JUDGEMENT: Supreme Court upholds 10% quota for the poor (EWS), ruling that it doesn’t contradict the Constitution’s fundamental principles.
