Singer-Actor Ellarose Kaylor Talks About Her New Music Video
HEY ELLAROSE KAYLOR, WELCOME BACK TO ABOUT INSIDER! SO WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU LATELY?
I am still in school on Zoom so that comes first or sometimes I will ice skate in the morning before school. Then after school I usually do a playdate, walk my dog to the beach (I live 2 minutes from the beach) go to practice ice skating, workout with my mom or dance. Sometimes I have an audition, make a Reel or do an art and craft project. Every day is different, some days I do things to help my craft like voice lessons, acting etc and other days I just have fun as kid!
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR NEWEST SONG, “I STILL BELIEVE” WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS TRACK?
The inspiration is about believing in yourself and never giving up! Remembering to also find the fire inside you even through the challenge you face. Just keep believing you can do it! I love the song because it is very personal to me. When I ice skate or auction for a film I have to keep believing in myself so I get better and do the best I can do – and of course have fun doing it!
“I STILL BELIEVE” VIDEO IS AMAZING; WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR IT COME FROM EXACTLY?
Awww thank you so much that is so sweet. I really wanted to incorporate ice skating because believing in yourself is so important when you are practicing a new jump, spin or at a competition. Sometime if I fall I just have to keep remembering to believe I can do it! I really wanted to shoot at an outdoor rink and we don’t have any beautiful outdoor rinks in Los Angels so my coach suggested Sun Valley. We worked on a program and planned the video. It was amazing to stake outside on a beautiful rink surrounded with mountains. But yes it was freezing I also got to work with two other amazing ice skaters Nicole Duke and Nix Phengy who are more advanced than me and so it was so cool to stake with them.
WHERE DID YOU FILM IT, AND HOW MANY DAYS DID IT TAKE?
We filmed it in Sun Valley in an outside rink and on a trail outside near the ski resort. We shot for one day in about 6 hours.
AS AN ARTIST THERE’S A WHOLE GAMUT OF CREATIVITY THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE ON BOARD AS PART OF YOUR CAREER. THERE’S SONGWRITING. THERE’S RECORDING IN THE STUDIO. THERE’S MAKING MUSIC VIDEOS. THERE’S PERFORMING LIVE. IS THERE ANY ONE PARTICULAR AREA OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS THAT YOU ENJOY THE MOST?
Honestly, I think I love it all. I love coming up with themes and feeling for songs, I love to learn them, practice and record them and then making music videos is so fun because the creativity is all open. You don’t have a script written by someone so you can just create something that feels personal and feels like the song. So really all part of the process excites me.
WHAT MAKES YOUR NEW SINGLE “”I STILL BELIEVE” SPECIAL TO YOU?
I think it is special because I want everyone to believe in their dreams and themselves. We all have self doubt sometimes but have to just find that fire and keep believing we can do anything we believe we can.
ANY UPCOMING COLLABORATIONS WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE FROM YOU THIS YEAR?
I would love to collaborate again with my best friend Reese Herren. We did a few songs together and love to sing with her so I think I am going to see if she wants to do another song with me!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU IN 2021?
I am going to be filming a movie this summer I am soooo excited about. It is a thriller and my character has so many levels and is not what you would expect from me. I am also working on another song and I am going to Nationals with LA Ice Theater with the program Mary Poppins.
LASTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU IF THERE’S ANYTHING THAT YOU WISH TO SAY TO YOUR FANS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD?
I just want to remind everyone to keep loving themselves. The more they love themselves the more they can love others and we all need to support each other and bring each other up. I think our generation can do that. We can be the group of kids that support each other.
