Rising Pop Artist Mads Deaver Talks Music and What’s Next for 2021

HELLO MADS DEAVER! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
Hi. I’m Mads Deaver from Los Angeles, CA. I’m 21 years old and have been singing and performing since I was 10 at different charity events, fairs and festivals. When I was about 17, I began writing lyrics and shortly after began writing my own songs. I began recording when I was 18 and my first single is called John Tucker. Music has always been my main goal in life.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE? HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS?
My musical style is definitely Pop Rock.  My style has changed over the years as I have gotten older and have grown more confident about my choices and what I want to put out in the world. I definitely love all styles of music from Musical Theater to R&B but when I am working on my own music, Pop Rock is the sound I create.

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
I find inspiration all over. I write about what I know, mostly experiences or relationships that I’ve had. Sometimes they have been positive and sometimes not so much but writing helps me express my feelings about it or just get it off my chest. When I write for someone else, I ask them questions about how they feel about the topic that we’re writing about and what their reactions are like and I do my best to incorporate how they speak and the words they use to convey their message.

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR CAREER?
I definitely have artists that have influenced and inspired me like Demi Lovato and Gwen Stefani because of their music and who they are as people. Overall watching the journey of any artist has an influence on me. I love to watch documentaries where you see artists in the studio and on tour. Watching their processes, habits and drive always makes me motivated.

WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS LIKE FOR MAKING MUSIC?
I don’t really have a set process. I have notes on my iphone for when I have a lyric or song idea and want to write them down right away so I don’t forget. When it really comes down to making a new song, writing the lyrics and coming up with a melody usually come first then I work with an engineer to collaborate on creating the track. Some songs take longer than others.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO GROW YOUR PERSONAL BRAND?
I don’t really have a big plan on how to grow my “brand”, maybe I should. LOL.  My goal is really to make music that people can sing to and connect with. Sometimes I post stuff on social media in my pajamas and sometimes I work with a photographer – either way my captions are random thoughts that pop into my head about my day or that moment.

WHAT IS THAT ONE THING THAT YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR MIND WHILE PREPARING YOUR CONTENT FOR SOCIAL MEDIA?
I just want to be true to myself and who I am.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO A BUDDING ARTIST?
Practice while everyone else is sleeping.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?
I just released my first ballad “I Forgive You” on October 9 and a holiday song called GRINCH November 30.

Also, I’m currently working on my first EP. I’m working with producers from the US and the UK and I’m hoping to have the EP out by Spring 2021.
