TCS CEO RAJESH GOPINATHAN RESIGNS AFTER 22 YEARS

In a surprising move, TCS Managing Director (MD) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajesh Gopinathan has announced his resignation from the IT services company. The announcement was made through a statement by TCS, which also revealed that K Krithivasan has been appointed as the new CEO designate of the company.

Krithivasan, who is currently serving as the President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group at TCS, has been with the company for over 34 years. During this time, he has held various leadership roles in delivery, customer relationship management, large program management, and sales.

On the other hand, Gopinathan, who has been with TCS for 22 years, of which he served as MD & CEO for six years, will stay on with the company till September 2023 to provide transition and support to his successor.

In a statement, Gopinathan expressed his pleasure in working with TCS and added that he has been “harbouring a few ideas” on what he wants to do next, and decided that the end of FY23 is a good time to step aside and pursue those interests.

“I will be working closely with Krithi to give him all the support that he needs,” he added, expressing his confidence in Krithivasan’s abilities to lead TCS to greater heights.

Krithivasan will go through a transition phase and be appointed as CEO in the next financial year. This move has come as a surprise to many in the industry, and all eyes will be on Krithivasan as he takes on this new role and leads TCS into the future.
