CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND 4040 VISION IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
4040Music is the name of our record label under our entertainment company called Double The Vision Entertainment. My name is Wallace and I am the leader of this wolfpack bringing us closer each day to the top of the mountain.
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR NAME 4040 VISION?
The name 4040 came about when I was in Toronto with my brother known as Swift B at the time. We decided to create a movement that would change the way people viewed artists in Canada. People say 20/20 is the perfect vision… well we decided to double it and 4040 was created!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE? HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS?
Our musical style is a blend of the 90’s/2000’s R&B and HipHop sounds with a blend of new-age beats to give listeners a unique and nostalgic experience. Every Year we pave a way for us to experiment and grow our style.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
I personally find me artistic inspirations from 2pac, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, J.cole, Aaliyah and Drake.
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR CAREER?
My 40 Crew; Avery Soul, RoyyalT, Wilkie, Gripcity, Big South and Butta are definitely amongst some of my favorites that have had a positive impact on me and my musical career thus far.
WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS LIKE FOR MAKING MUSIC?
My Process for making music usually starts with finding the right beat from my producer. Doing a one-take freestyle over the whole beat and picking a part what I liked and scrapping what I didn’t then writing it out by hand.
HOW IMPORTANT IS PERSONAL BRANDING IN YOUR PROFESSION AND WHAT YOU DO TO GROW YOUR BRAND?
Personal Branding is everything to us… Each year we organize our own 40 show where we perform in front of a sell-out crowd but also give opportunities to upcoming local artists to give them a chance to shine under the bright lights. Half of the money we donate and buy toys for sick kids and orphans just in time for the holidays. I truly believe giving is greater than receiving so our brand will speak for itself by actions.
