PM Modi on Thursday paid his last respects to CDS General Bipin Rawat and others who died in an Indian Air Force helicopter crash a day ago in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor area.
The mortal remains of General Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other defence personnel were brought to New Delhi’s Palam airbase from Tamil Nadu this evening.
The last rites of all the victims of the crash will be conducted on Friday in New Delhi Cantt, and the bodies of Gen Rawat and his wife will be kept at their 3 Kamaraj Marg residence for the general public to pay their final respects from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Friday.
The reason for the crash is still unknown; however, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing the parliament on the matter said that a probe would be conducted on the incident.
