PM Modi to review Covid-19 situation today at high-level meeting

The officials said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the situation regarding the Covid-19 situation in the country at a high-level review meeting. Amid a massive flow in infection rate in China, the meeting shows the government’s seriousness to tackle the situation.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the situation and asked the people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour, which includes wearing masks in crowded places and getting vaccinated.

The Prime Minister is expected to hold the meeting at 3:30 pm. There has been a boost in Covid cases in China, Japan, South Korea, France and the United States. It is said that the new Omicron sub-variant BF.7 is getting spread, which has also been detected in four Indian states.

However, the Congress party slammed the government over PM’s Covid meeting and said “understand the chronology”. On Wednesday, the Union health minister urged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot to strictly follow the Covid guidelines during the Bharat Jodo Yatra or postpone it.

The health minister, in a letter addressed to Congress leaders, said the use of masks and sanitisers should be put into practice and only vaccinated people should take part in the yatra. Till now, India has detected as many as four cases of BF.7.
