PM Modi praises CBI, says main responsibility is to free India from corruption

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that corruption takes away the rights of the poor and gives various crimes, and the imperative responsibility of CBI is to rid the country of it. PM Modi was addressing at the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“Corruption is not an ordinary crime, it snatches the rights of the poor, it begets many other crimes, corruption is the biggest obstacle in the path of justice and democracy. Corruption in the government system hampers democracy and the first casualty is the dreams of the youth as in such circumstances a certain type of ecosystem flourishes killing talent. Corruption promotes nepotism and a dynastic system which erodes the nation’s strength, seriously hampering development,” said PM Modi, while addressing the gathering.

He also added that the CBI has surfaced as a brand for truth and justice and has given hope and strength to the common people. The PM said that “CBI has given hope and strength to the common citizen. People hold protests to demand CBI inquiry as CBI has emerged as a brand for truth and justice”.

The PM also targeted the previous governments at the Centre as he said that the corrupt practices had ruined the foundation of our economy and banking system during the time before 2014.
