On Thursday Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh. According to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia the first phase will be completed in 2024.
NIA is spread across an area of 5000 acres and is going to be developed with an estimated cost of 29,560 Crores by Zurich International Airport AG. The airport will ensure “Uttam Suvidha” and will start its journey with one runway and a terminal to handle 1.2 crore passengers annually at an investment of Rs 5,730 crore.
According to reports: upon completion, the two terminals at Jewar will cover 4,88,000 square meters of land and will have six runways once all its expansions are completed. The total size of the airport will be over 1300 hectares (13 square kilometres) will make it Asia’s biggest airport and the world’s fourth largest airport.
