Mila Nabours was born in Santa Monica, California and started out as a competitive gymnast before transitioning to dance where she trained in all styles including hip-hop/jazz funk and contemporary. Mila won multiple awards and scholarships at national competitions. Her career began to take off when, at age 12, she was discovered on social media by a casting director and landed the lead role in her first film. Mila’s lead roles in the films FEET OF FIRE and NINA SAIZA have earned her multiple awards as BEST YOUNG ACTRESS. Her talent can also be seen on TV in shows such as PEOPLE MAGAZINE INVESTIGATES as well as commercial campaigns, web series, and music videos. The daughter of professional classical musicians, Mila is a recording artist herself who released her first original music in early 2021 to be followed by an EP titled VISION releasing on July 9th 2021. This three song EP includes 3 songs: Hypnosis, New Moon, and Catch Me. Vision speaks to a generation of teens trying to discover themselves and their life’s direction in a post-Covid world. Mila lends her voice to bring awareness to autism through the charity SPREADING THE LOVE. Outside of the entertainment world, Mila is a typical teenager that enjoys long-boarding, biking, laughing with friends and making comedic content.
HI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS MILA NABOURS IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I am a singer/ songwriter, actress and dancer! I am passionate about expressing my thoughts and emotions through music, and I use songwriting as a creative outlet. Although my parents are musicians and I grew up loving music, I didn’t start pursuing music until the beginning of the pandemic. Since then, I’ve released 2 singles and an EP.
YOU’RE A MULTI-TALENTED ARTIST; HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO GIVE YOUR BEST IN ALL OF YOUR ENDEAVORS, FROM ACTING TO MUSIC?
Balancing everything can sometimes be stressful, but not every project and opportunity comes at once, so I take everything one day at a time. I believe prioritizing quality is the most important thing when it comes to any project, even if it takes more time.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING SINGLE ‘MEMORY?’
“Memory” is about the pain of losing someone to Alzheimer’s. Two of my grandparents unfortunately suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, so I wanted to dedicate this song to them and to anyone who may have a family member going through the same thing.
WHAT WAS YOUR THOUGHT WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED TO COMPOSE ‘MEMORY?’
When I started writing “Memory,” my heart was full in the sense that I was writing about such a powerful subject, but I definitely maintained a solemn mood throughout the whole writing process. I pulled lyrics from a real place of sentiment.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE SUCH CLASSIC MUSIC?
My music is inspired by a mix of artists I listen to, combined with my own style and genuine emotions. I feel like creating catchy beats or bops is important, but it goes along with having a meaningful storytelling melody and lyrics.
WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
One thing people don’t know about me is that I’m bilingual. In one of my songs “New Moon,” part of my EP “Vision,” I sing the chorus in Spanish. I went to a Spanish Immersion school from preschool to Middle school, where we learned everything in Spanish. Since then, I’ve continued taking Spanish in school.
ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
I’ve recorded multiple tracks for upcoming films! Along with that, Lexi Rabe and I, as well as other artists, have just recreated the 80s song “Kids in America,” supporting the charity No Kids Hungry. Recently, I’ve been doing more music performances, and am planning to continue with more!
BEFORE WE WRAP UP, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO SAY TO YOUR FANS?
A big thank you for the continued support, I am truly grateful to have a platform to be able to share my passion.
