HI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS MICHAEL SALAS IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I’m a very ambitious and driven individual, I really enjoy what I do and I take great pride in it. I’m very passionate about my music and I truly give it my all in every project. I consider myself a hard working individual who is always working to improve my craft. I just love being in the studio, trying something new, being as creative as possible and just having fun with it.
WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO DROP OUT OF COLLEGE AND PURSUE A CAREER AS A MUSICIAN?
It really came down to just figuring out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and be happy about it. And the only thing I actually saw myself doing for the rest of my life was making music. I just love everything about it from brainstorming my next track, to creating it and to finally releasing it for the world to hear it. I really enjoy the process and everything that comes with it so for me it was an easy decision to drop out of school to pursue my music career.
THE NAME ‘DAY ONE’ IS UNIQUE IN ITS OWN WAY. HOW DID YOU GET THIS NAME?
Behind every artist, there is always a good team. I wanted to choose a name that not only represents myself but that also represents every single person that has helped me throughout my career. So that’s how I came up with the name “Day 0ne” . I’m acknowledging everyone that has contributed to my career since day one. I feel like nowadays the artist always gets all the glory and the people that are helping them behind the scenes don’t get enough credit. So “Day 0ne” is not just an artist’s name, it’s a community. Anyone who is supporting me is a “Day 0ne”,we are all “Day 0ne”.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE EDM BIGGIE?
It feels great to be honest, I really enjoy making electronic music and I also love being part of the community. There’s so much diversity in the electronic scene with different artists from all over the world so it’s pretty cool getting to connect with different artists. Also thanks to social media EDM is growing in different countries all over the world so it’s really impressive how the EDM culture is growing rapidly.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR DEBUT SINGLE, ‘PARADISE’, AND HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THE IDEA FOR YOUR DEBUT SINGLE?
My song Paradise was made to inspire everyone to live their lives to the fullest with their loved ones. Life is short and we need to make the most out of it. Everyone goes through hard times in life but sometimes we need to sit back and focus on the good things we have and really appreciate the people that are there for us. Life is so much better when we appreciate it more and we are actually living it.
WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND YOUR SOULFUL MUSIC PRODUCTION?
It would have to be trying to connect with the audience on an emotional level. When someone can connect with your song on an emotional level it has a greater impact on them. A song can bring back an old memory, it can make you feel some type of away, it honestly just connects with you on a deeper level. Every song has a different emotion attached to it and everyone receives it in a different way but as long as they are able to connect with it then they also feel like they are connecting with the artist as well.
HOW DO YOU INTEND TO CONTINUE TO AMUSE YOUR FOLLOWERS IN THE FUTURE? DO YOU INTEND TO HOST ANY LIVE STREAM SETS OF ANY KIND?
I intend to keep releasing music that they can vibe to, I have a new track called “Sunset” that will be released next week which I know they’ll love. I’m super excited it’s the perfect summer track for everyone to vibe to. And yes I do plan on having a few sets for the summer to switch things up.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO YOUR FANS BEFORE THIS INTERVIEW CONCLUDES?
I would just like to say go follow your dreams. Anything is possible in life if you put your mind into it. Whatever you choose to do it definitely won’t be easy but with hard work and consistency you’re putting yourself in a good position to succeed. So don’t be afraid to go after what you truly want, at the end of the day you will be so much happier that you went for it.
