Meet Rising Actress, Samantha Autry
Samantha made her acting debut at age 6 in Disney’s “Choo Choo Soul” videos and went on to appear in Nickelodeon’s Sam and Cat, NBC’s The New Normal, and Award-winning short film by Nancy Vuu, Unto Me.
HELLO SAMANTHA, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS SAMANTHA AUTRY IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
My name is Samantha Autry. I began my career as a professional model and actress when I was four. My freshmen year I took a break from acting to focus on my education. This June I graduated high school and I am currently in the process of getting back to work.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START WITH ACTING AND SINGING?
I got my start with acting and singing when I was four years old. I was very shy and my mom was tired of me clinging to her leg while hiding behind her, so she and my father enrolled me in a modeling and acting class with hopes it would help with my socialization skills.
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO BE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY?
One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had an agent and God blessed me with my first job, which was Disney Choo Choo Soul videos. From that moment on I fell in love with acting so I committed my work to God, continued with acting and music lessons and more jobs followed.
WHO ARE YOUR SINGING AND ACTING ROLE MODELS?
Some of my singing role models are Whitney Houston, Bebe & Cece Winanas, Nicole C. Mullen, Fred Hammond and Andrae Crouch.
My acting role models are: Kate Blanchett, Michael Keaton, Sandra Bullock, Cathy Bates, Robert DuVall, Maggie Smith, Christian Bale and Benedict Cumberbatch.
WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
I love Science. If I had pursued college instead of acting, it would have been to be a Microbiologist.
CAN YOU TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR CHARITY WORK AND HOW YOU GOT STARTED?
I got started with Operation Christmas Child when I was a child. My mother and I would pack shoe boxes each Christmas then drop them off at a designated location where they would then be sent to the distribution center to be cleared and shipped all over the world to impoverished children. This year I am looking forward to taking it a step even farther by helping out at the distribution center in my area.
I have also done work at an event for the “Make A Wish” foundation in 2014. I have supported the United States War Dogs Association for years. My mom and I send care packages to the military working dogs and their handlers. The things we take for granted here are luxury items in other parts of the world. We enjoy helping members of the military because they work so hard protecting our country. Being apart from their families is difficult and it’s nice to be able to give back. https://www.uswardogs.org/#
I also support Pilots N Paws, a non-profit organization that works with shelters and volunteer pilots to fly animals to their furever homes. https://www.pilotsnpaws.org
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEAL TO COOK?
My favorite meal to cook is Tomato Bisque Soup with Grilled Cheese Sticks. It’s a great lunch or a light supper, especially on cold days. I do enjoy cooking more elaborate meals like Beef Wellington with peppercorn sauce for special occasions. Everyday favorites could be Baked Ziti, French Onion Soup or something like KETO pancakes.
