Lexi Janicek’s Star is on the Rise

Lexi Janicek is best known as Lisa Loud in the Nickelodeon Live Action Series The Really Loud House as well as The Loud House Live Action Christmas Special. Since beginning her career, Lexi has had a co-starring role in NBC’s Ordinary Joe with James Wolk, a supporting role voicing a character on Apple TV’s new show Duck & Goose as well as playing the younger version of Kristen Bell in Amazon’s The People We Hate at the Wedding. She also has a recurring role in the upcoming drama on Apple TV starring Luke Evans entitled Echo 3. When not acting, Lexi enjoys sports especially gymnastics and skiing and spending time with her family.

HI LEXI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS LEXI JANICEK IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I’m just a regular girl from Tennessee! I’ve gone to public school my whole life until this year.  I love gymnastics and sports, my family and friends and of course, acting!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE AS LISA LOUD IN NICKELODEON’S THE REALLY LOUD HOUSE. HOW DID YOU END UP GETTING THIS ROLE?
Lisa is the second youngest of her family’s 11 kids and the family genius.  She loves science, but sometimes her experiments don’t quite go as planned.  She’s been known to cause an explosion or two, which is a lot of fun.
I honestly didn’t think I had a chance at this role when I first read the breakdown.  Lisa and I are very different, especially in appearance. The funny thing is that the more I play her, the more I notice that actually I have some very ‘Lisa’ characteristics in my own personality! We’re both rule followers, we both take school very seriously and we both try to look at the facts before becoming too emotional.  I guess the casting team recognized that before I did!

HOW WAS IT WORKING WITH JAMES WOLK ON NBC’S ORDINARY JOE?
Sadly, I didn’t share scenes with James! BUT I have to say I was completely struck by his kindness when I met him on set.  He went out of his way to come over and say hello and talk to me for a bit before he had to go on to film his next scene.  It meant so much to me that he took the time to make me feel welcome and valued. I’m sure he has no idea, but I was really touched.  I hope he has an alert set up for his name so he’ll know that he had an impact on a young actor! ☺

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING DRAMA, “ECHO 3.”
“Echo 3” is a military thriller.  I play the younger version of one of the main characters, Amber.  She witnesses some horrible things as a child and ultimately those experiences cause problems in her adult life.  Some of my scenes were pretty dramatic.  I had to dig deep to portray what Amber was going through, but my mom was right off camera for lots of hugs as soon as we cut. It was great to get to play a serious, dramatic role. “Echo 3” will be streaming on AppleTV+ starting November 23rd!

YOU HAVE TOO MANY MOVIES AND SHOWS COMING UP IN NOVEMBER 2022, INCLUDING “THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING.” HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE SO SUCCESSFUL AND GARNER PEOPLE’S APPRECIATION FROM AROUND THE WORLD?
It was really fun getting to be in “The People We Hate At The Wedding”.  I got to wear blue colored contacts to play the younger version of Kristen Bell’s character, Alice.  That was new for me!  I love getting to play different roles and stepping into different worlds as an actor.  Acting takes a lot of practice and effort, so it feels extra amazing to get a callback or booking!

WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
My family has definitely had the biggest influence on me at this point.  My parents are both hard workers and encourage my brothers and me to do our best in whatever we’re doing.  They’re great about celebrating small wins which I think is so important.  It’s not always about booking the job or playing the perfect game (which would be amazing!), but knowing that you gave it your all and seeing that you’re making small improvements along the way. They’re great about keeping us motivated and encouraged in everything we do.

WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
Even though I’ve been in some dark and scary scenes as an actor, I’m definitely not a fan of the dark in real life!  I cannot be the last person in the house to fall asleep.  As long as someone else is awake, the noises I hear are surely just another family member walking around.  BUT, if everyone else has gone to bed, those same noises completely freak me out and my imagination gets out of control- lol.

ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
We’ll actually be filming “The Really Loud House” through the end of this year and enjoying all-new Thursday night episodes as they air on Nickelodeon. Of course, “The People We Hate at the Wedding” starts streaming on November 18th and “Echo 3” will be airing weekly beginning November 23rd.  Then we’ll see what 2023 will bring!

WHAT IS ONE MESSAGE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE TO YOUR FANS?
My all-time message is ‘be kind’.  Being kind should truly apply to every aspect of life- personal, professional and even toward yourself.  You don’t have to like everything or everyone ALL the time, but you can always be kind… even if it takes extra effort sometimes.
