Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Approval Rating Among World Leaders, Fourth Highest Globally

According to a recent survey conducted by Morning Consult, an American-based global decision intelligence company, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has an approval rating of 48%, which is the fourth highest among the 22 world leaders monitored by the company. In addition, Meloni has the highest approval rating among EU leaders, as per the data compiled by Morning Consult between January 4th and January 10th, 2023. The news has been welcomed by Meloni’s far-right Fratelli d’Italia party.

Morning Consult monitors the approval ratings of government leaders in 22 countries, offering what it describes as “real-time insight into the shifting political dynamics across the globe.” In first place worldwide is India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an approval rating of 76%, followed by Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (65%) and Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (59%). Meloni’s approval rating of 48% places her in fourth place, ahead of Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and US President Joe Biden, both at 42%, and Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at 40%.

The EU leader with the highest approval ratings after Meloni and Varadkar was Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez at 37%, followed by Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo at 33%, Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at 33%, France’s President Emmanuel Macron at 31%, Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz at 31%, and the UK’s Chancellor Rishi Sunak at 31%.

The countries monitored in the Morning Consult approval ratings tracker are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

Meloni’s high approval rating is a positive sign for her party and the country, however, it is important to note that the survey was conducted during a specific period of time and it is not clear what the current approval rating is. Additionally, the survey is based on the opinions of a sample of people and may not represent the views of the entire population.

In her recent speeches, Meloni has emphasized on strengthening the economy, reducing crime and illegal immigration, and promoting traditional values. Her party has also been critical of the European Union and its policies. Meloni’s high approval rating may indicate that these positions resonate with a significant portion of the population.
However, it is also important to note that the use of profanity on social media has led to the cancellation of Emma Straub’s book events in Texas schools, so it is possible that the usage of certain language or expression on social media may have a negative impact on the approval rating of a leader.
