HI SALOMÉ, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO OUR AUDIENCE?
Hi! I’m a French-British actor, singer, and dancer living in New York City. I graduated from Tisch School of the Arts last year and I’ve been creating my own opportunities for work despite the pandemic. I started a platform for actors to write and shoot their own content called The Self Series that you can find on Youtube!

HOW DID YOU START AND HOW WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY?
I started acting when I was pretty young, I used to go to acting summer camps every year as a kid. Then when I started at a performing arts high school, I began treating acting as a career as well as a hobby. I guess my first experience in the industry was working with my friends and creating our own films, it’s crazy how much quality content we can create by ourselves. I also remember my very first audition, I was shaking uncontrollably and butchered the lines. With a little more practice I actually think I’ve become really good at auditions, and thankfully so because it’s a pretty big part of the job.

WHAT HAVE BEEN INFLUENCES IN DEVELOPING YOUR ACTING?
I actually grew up with two actor grandparents and I would watch their stuff all the time and accompany them to auditions when I could, it was all so exciting for me. My mum is also the biggest film buff I think I’ll ever meet, she practically trained my siblings and I as kids to be into cinema. We would have weekly movie screenings in our living room of her favourite classics. So from watching so much film, you pick up on couple acting do’s and don’ts and I’ve been able to apply them to my own work.

WHAT’S CHALLENGING ABOUT BRINGING A SCRIPT TO LIFE?
I feel like there’s some pressure to do the script justice and sometimes words just sound different out loud, depending on the actor speaking them. What’s great about writing for yourself is you can really tailor the words to fit you, but if you don’t have the luxury of altering the script I think you really need to tap into the character and think about bringing them to life and the script will follow along naturally.

IF YOUR LIFE WAS TO BE TURNED INTO A MOVIE WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY YOUR PART?
Oh 100% Sandra Bullock. She’s my girl crush, I would trust her entirely. I also would have loved to play some of her roles. If there’s a Miss Congeniality reboot, I’m your gal.

WHAT’S HAPPINESS FOR SALOMÉ ROBERT-MURPHY?
I think that’s a really important question right now because the answer has definitely shifted a lot throughout the pandemic. I used to keep myself so busy seeing friends and working on stuff together, but now that I’ve had a lot of solo time I’ve had to figure out how stay self-sufficient and productive by myself, even when it seems like there’s nothing to do. I try to do one productive thing every day, whether it’s to do with my career or my mind or body, and you end up finding there’s so many ways to do that. And also my cat, he’s a big chunk of my happiness.

ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
I worked on a film called ‘Hell Wanted’ directed by my incredibly talented friend Braxton Fannin and produced by Irving Pictures that will be coming out soon! I can’t say too much else just yet, but you can catch me in a pretty exciting TV show at the end of the year. Also The Self Series is continuing to grow, so keep up with it on Youtube!

HOW CAN YOUR FANS INTERACT WITH YOU ONLINE?
I’m pretty active on Instagram @salomefelicie and post any exciting updates on there! And of course, check me out on The Self Series – www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfweV-IBzXU
