Lauren Davidson is unconventional, inimitable, and unmissable. Born to a musical family, Davidson began singing and performing with her father during her childhood. CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS LAUREN DAVIDSON IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
To say it simply- Hi Im Lauren Davidson and I am an Urban Country Artist from New York City.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST BEGIN TO CREATE MUSIC?
I grew up in a musical family so music has been in my blood and soul my entire life but I didn’t start writing and performing my own songs until about 5-6 years ago.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE? HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS?
My style is a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll and whole lotta soul. I call it Urban Country – country music with a little bite. My style hasn’t changed that much really but Ive definitely grown and come into my own.
TELL US BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW SONG “FIND ME”?
I love this song! Its the 3rd song off of my Love Aint Fair EP and its about finding yourself and loving yourself after getting out of a relationship.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
From literally everywhere!!!
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR CAREER?
So many people in my life that I know personally and people I don’t even know at all like other musicians. My dad is a big influence and collaborator of mine. Musically I’m influenced by Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, Grace Potter, Shania Twain to name a few.
CRAZY THINGS KEEP HAPPENING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PERFORM. TELL US ABOUT THE CRAZIEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE PERFORMING.
For me the craziest thing was seeing people singing my words back to me. Not sure anyone else would consider that crazy but honestly it was wild!
WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS LIKE FOR MAKING MUSIC?
Every song is a little different but this Love Aint Fair EP was the first time I had a hand in co producing my own music so it was a little different then any other process I had done before. I really took my time in picking songs and building them from the ground up – demoing, tracking and finishing and I really dove in and enjoyed every little step of the process.
HOW IMPORTANT IS PERSONAL BRANDING IN YOUR PROFESSION AND WHAT YOU DO TO GROW YOUR BRAND?
I think its ridiculously important to be authentic and true to yourself both musically and visually and with your message you share with your fans. Its a business in itself.
