HELLO DOUGIE! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
Hi, my name’s Dougie Nielsen and I’m a singer-songwriter from Long Island New York.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE? HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS?
I think it’s a very eclectic sound because it Varys from pop music to alternative ballads. Id say its slightly changed because the adaption of my lyrics has progressed!
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR ARTISTIC INSPIRATION?
Sometimes my music is based off actual events or people in my life, and other times its just me fantasizing about things.
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR CAREER?
On the side of the industry, Lady GaGa and Britney Spears to Sam Smith and Adele and recently Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas. But also my mom and dad for being so supportive.
WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS LIKE FOR MAKING MUSIC?
Well usually I always start off by playing chords and notes on the piano and then I feel something from it and connect whatever I’m going through in that moment. Eventually I have a structured song and then I bring it to the studio, envision sounds in my mind to add and then keep fixing things till it feels right.
WHAT IS THAT ONE THING THAT YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR MIND WHILE PREPARING YOUR CONTENT FOR SOCIAL MEDIA?
Honestly, I post whatever I feel like I want to share as long as I stay authentic to myself and I like it.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO A BUDDING ARTIST?
I give myself the same advice…but to just keep going and making more art and constantly be moving with stuff and always have something to work on cause, most likely the first thing is not going to take off but that’s not to say somewhere down the road it won’t.
