CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS BRAD LAMBERT IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I’m a Producer, Talent Manager and INTL. Speaker in Los Angeles, CA. I’m just a guy who is chasing my passions on a daily basis, leading with kindness and trying to bring as much value as I can to as many people as I can. We have one life to live, so I’m trying to live it doing the things I love while trying to leave a positive impact on those around me and to the industry as a whole.
YOUR PROFILE IS QUITE ENTICING, OUT OF ALL OF YOUR JOB ROLES, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE AND WHY?
Over the years, I’ve realized there’s a common theme among the top things that I do…adding value to others. When I’m producing, I’m adding value on multiple levels, but mainly it’s assisting everyone else on the team; I help the director, talent, producing team, wardrobe, etc. When I’m managing, I’m there to add whatever value I can to my client, to help them improve and achieve success. When I’m speaking, I’m touching on topics and giving insight on subjects to hopefully inspire and offer clarity to the audience. So to answer your question, I don’t really have a favorite…I thoroughly enjoy each and every thing I do because they challenge me in different ways.
WHEN YOU ARE CASTING, HOW DO YOU FINALIZE YOUR TALENT? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE PARTICULAR PERSON IS FIT FOR THE ROLE? IS IT JUST YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD, OR IS THERE SOME STRATEGY THAT YOU FOLLOW?
When casting for a project I look for the person who is passionate about the role, has an incredible work ethic and puts together a nice tape for it that represents themselves well for the role. Those things are very important, but sometimes it’s also a gut feeling; You’re watching a tape or at a live audition and you see and hear the person, feel their energy and passion and you just know that they’re perfect for the project. When you hear people say “you have an eye for talent”, it’s a real thing so trust your gut!
WHAT IS THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR WORK, AND HOW DO YOU TACKLE IT?
My goal with any project or work is to make sure the client or investor is satisfied at the end of the day. I focus all my effort on the quality of work as well as the turnaround time and handling everything at the highest level of professionalism and respect. I’m juggling multiple clients, projects, and responsibilities; I strive to make sure everyone is happy and satisfied. It’s stressful, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
MOST OF YOUR SHOWS REVOLVE AROUND KINDNESS, AND EMPOWERING OTHERS AROUND, HOW DO THESE ACTS OF KINDNESS HELP YOU IN YOUR GROWTH?
Kindness has always been a major part of my life. I care about others and love to see other people happy and that alone brings me happiness, which in today’s world is a rare thing. When you’re kind, you bring happiness to yourself but also to others. Nothing better than that…
WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD WANT TO GIVE BUDDING TALENT MANAGERS?
It’s not about you. If you’re entering this field with yourself as the priority, it’s over before it begins. As a Talent Manager, it’s all about your client and their career and well-being. Your thoughts, time and energy go towards helping them progress in their career as well as in their personal life. If you focus on that…your client will appreciate it because you’re not looking at them as just a form of revenue for yourself, but a friend, someone you actually care for, both “on and off the field.
HOW IMPORTANT IS PERSONAL BRANDING IN YOUR PROFESSION AND WHAT YOU DO TO GROW YOUR BRAND?
What a lot of people don’t realize is, whether you like it or not, you are a brand…Even if you don’t think you are. Whatever you do, say, post on social media; It all reflects on you and your brand. Companies are now paying more attention to your social media and in some cases, specifically in the entertainment industry, it can make or break you. If you don’t have a big enough following, or aren’t portraying yourself in the right way, doors will close for you. Having said that, more people need to take this seriously and put more time and effort into building their brand. I focus on posting regularly and making sure each post has value for the viewer/follower in some way. I’ve been doing a lot of podcasts and interviews, to get my story out there and build my overall reach and exposure.
WHO IS YOUR DREAM DINNER GUEST AND WHY?
I’ve been very lucky to meet and work with people who I admire and who inspire me, from Robert Downey Jr. to Gary Vaynerchuk. One person I have not had the privilege of meeting yet is Scooter Braun. I’ve followed his career from the beginning, thoroughly respect him as a professional and as a person. Would love to sit down with him to talk life, goals, sports, music/film/tv and a little business of course haha We have several mutual friends and are in the same “circles”, so I’m hopeful we’ll have the opportunity to connect in the near future.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?
Dream big, set “crazy” goals for yourself and push your limits. Even if you “fail”, you will learn so much and grow due to that difficult challenge and in time, it won’t be difficult anymore. Lead with value and kindness and do whatever you can to assist others with their endeavors. The more value you can bring, the better. If you’re always providing value, regardless of whether it’s big or small, you will put yourself in a great position to be successful because you will have more and more opportunities coming your way.
