Interview with Lifestyle & Commercial Model Aubri Ebony
HELLO AUBRI, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS AUBRI EBONY IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
Aubri Ebony is a lifestyle & commercial model with an alluring social media presence. I’ve had many billboards in the U.S. as well publications in International Maxim issues and Essence Magazine. I am a previous Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Top Contestant and currently using my Mater’s Degree to provide Mental Health to models in the industry.
HOW AND WHEN EXACTLY DID YOU REALIZE YOU HAD THE PASSION FOR MODELING?
I feel like in 2017 was my rise. Modeling is something I wanted to do but never knew if I could. I signed with my first agency in 2016 and things just took a rise from there.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A MODEL AND WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES IN THE MODELING INDUSTRY?
I love the opportunities I get as a model. I love taking photos because it’s one of the things I’m really good at. I also meet tons of amazing people and I frequently have the opportunity to travel to amazing places. I’m so inspired by all the beautiful women of color that I see on agency rosters. I feel like they are all my biggest influences and I try hard to encourage, uplift, inspire and support models.
HOW IMPORTANT IS PERSONAL BRANDING IN YOUR PROFESSION?
It is everything. Knowing who you are and projecting that publicly, really helps people relate to you.
WHAT ADVICE & TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG ASPIRING MODELS?
Find an agency that inspires you and build your portfolio based on the portfolios you see on the website. Be specific with building your portfolio. Have 8-10 photos in your port to start. Headshots, Athletic shots (yoga, running, any sports you may be good at), something casual and something swim or underwear. Then submit to an agency.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?
I feel like it’s important to let readers know that progress takes time. Be patient. Stay focused. Be consistent. Have a strong support system, stay true to who you are, and be a good human…good karma is everything.
