Interview with Cidenna CEO Khalil Walthour

Cidenna Art Director and CEO Khalil Walthour, initially started the clothing project in Hinesville Georgia and now reaching every corner of the world.

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS KHALIL WALTHOUR IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I’m a 22-year-old American fashion designer and artist. I love to create things that haven’t been done or seen before whether it’s in clothing, Photoshoots or music I make. I am ambitious and driven. I thrive on challenge and constantly set goals for myself, so I have something to strive toward. I’m not comfortable with settling, and I’m always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness.

DID YOU EXPECT YOUR CARGO COLLECTION TO DO SO WELL AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT ALL THE ATTENTION IT HAS BEEN GETTING?
I was very nervous at first but was very surprised on the great outcome. I’m very thankful for all the support I have been getting from customers, influencers and celebrities. This collection showed my true designer side and I think people loved that about this collection which caused some sizes to sell out in minutes.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CIDENNA CARGO PIECE?
The Teddy Cargo pants is my favorite piece from the collection. I took my time trying to figure out how to place the pockets in places that will not normally host pockets while also keeping the pants as comfortable as possible. The design is unique and one of my very first custom creation of pants.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO PURSUE A CAREER IN FASHION?
Having the ability to create something I would like to see in my closet and something I would wear that hasn’t been created before. Fashion allows me to be as creative as I want to be from the clothing down to the photo editorials.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR EDUCATION HAS PREPARED YOU TO WORK IN FASHION?
I didn’t attend college or receive any further education after high school. I already had the mindset to do what I wanted to do which was creating a clothing brand. Learning from my own mistakes and taking risk has prepared me to work in fashion.
