Interview with Author Ben Bander Abudawood

Today our interview is with Mr. Ben Bander Abudawood.

Ben is an HR professional and author who was born in Saudi Arabia and attended university in the UK. He currently holds an MBA degree and is also working on his Ph.D. After leaving school, Ben went on to a career in Human Resources and has accrued 18 years of experience working for a number of prestigious companies, many in the banking and healthcare fields.

Despite all of his obvious success, Ben has always nurtured a passion for writing. Regardless of his busy life, he was able to find time to publish a book, and has since written a number of novels. More recently, he has branched out into books about leadership and HR, two subjects which are very close to his heart.

Today, Ben remains a busy man, frequently traveling between Dubai, the USA, and the UK. However, he always finds time in his schedule to pursue his love of writing, and has just recently finished another novel, entitled “Blair.” Read the interview to find out more:

SO, MR. ABUDAWOOD, WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?
Some of my ideas come from my imagination, while others are inspired by true stories. As I travel a lot, I meet people around the world and see things that inspire me to write. Other ideas come from my dreams, and when I wake up, I start writing them down in my notebook to work on later.

DO YOU THINK YOU NEED TO FEEL EMOTIONS STRONGLY TO BE A WRITER?
Personally, I believe that writers do have to be quite emotional because everything they write must be felt by the reader. Writing is about putting your feelings into words and passing them on to readers.

DO YOU HIDE ANY SECRETS IN YOUR BOOKS? THINGS THAT ONLY A FEW PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO FIND?
I do, and it’s true that very few people can find them. I have received a couple of emails from readers who’ve tracked them down and want to ask me about them, though. Plus, I appear in all of my novels as myself with a different name and the same personality. So people can always try to figure out which character is me.

HOW MANY UNPUBLISHED OR UNFINISHED BOOKS DO YOU HAVE?
Currently, I have two that are unpublished, one of which should publish by November 2020. I truly believe this will be one of the most important novels I’ve written yet. It took me two and a half years to finish it!
