India Achieves a New Milestone, Crosses 200 Crore Jab Mark

On Sunday, India achieved a new milestone in its vaccination course against COVID-19 as the vaccine doses figure exceeded the 200-crore mark in the country. It accomplished a massive number a year after it commenced the world’s largest vaccination drive against the pandemic.

Until Saturday, 199.97 crore vaccine doses were given all over the country. The earlier milestone of the 100-crore mark took 277 days. The vaccine doses administered in a single day were 2.5 crores on 17 September last year.

98 per cent of the adult population has obtained at least one dose whereas 90 per cent have been totally vaccinated, as per the health ministry data. 62.1 per cent of the world’s populace is vaccinated, according to the data provided by Our World in Data.

Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against COVID-19.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

71 per cent of the vaccination has taken place in Covid vaccination centres situated in rural while 29 per cent in urban areas, according to the health ministry officials. India has the second highest overall cases after the United States. India has achieved a giant milestone by hitting the 200-crore mark in vaccine doses.
