Virat Kohli showed once again why he’s called ‘King Kohli’. He made 166 not-out runs in just 110 balls against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Shubhman Gill made 116 runs in just 97 balls. Thanks to Virat Kohli and Shubhman Gill, India set a humungous target of 390 runs against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka succumbed to just 73 runs. In the final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, India thrashed the opponents by 317 runs. Also, this victory helped team India clean sweep the series 3-0. Kohli’s extraordinary inning was a spectacle to watch.
In Kohli’s 166 runs, he hit 13 fours and eight sixes in just 110 balls. It was Kohli’s 46th ODI Century and it made him closer to breaking the record for most ODI hundreds of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli is now just 3 hundred short of Sachin Tendulkar.
Interestingly, Kohli made his 46th ODI hundred in just 269 matches while it took 463 innings for Tendulkar to touch the same number in the ODI format. Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds at home.
While Sachin has 20 hundred at home in 164 matches, King Kohli touched the number 21 in his 105th ODI match at home. Another record which is broken is the highest margin of victory in any men’s ODI.
