Rena has New York City styling wrapped up this Spring. We caught up with the Parson graduate turned social media star to talk latest fashion trends, her wardrobe must have’s and what we can expect to see in New York’s biggest fashion houses in an exclusive interview.
HELLO RENA, WELCOME TO ABOUTINSIDER! HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
Comfortable chic.
DID ATTENDING PARSON’S INFLUENCE YOUR STYLE?
It was definitely inspiring seeing lots of people around me dressing up in a very self-expressive yet unique way. You can really expect to see any kind of style around Parsons but that’s the beauty of it. I wouldn’t say it changed my style as I feel like I have always gravitated towards a certain style, but it definitely inspired me to be more experimental with my outfits.
WHAT IS YOUR GOLDEN RULE FOR STEPPING OUT IN NEW YORK?
Make sure the shoes you are wearing are comfortable. If there’s one thing about the city, is you can expect to be walking 24/7 even if you weren’t planning on it. So I definitely always try to make sure my shoes are as comfortable as possible unless it’s a night out in which maybe I will compromise.
WHAT SETS SOMEONE APART FROM THE CROWD IN REGARD TO STYLE?
I would say owning your personal style regardless of what’s trending at the moment and also accessorizing is key.
WHO ARE YOUR STYLE ICONS?
My mom. I am always so inspired by the way she dresses, and we have so much in common style wise as well, so we are always in and out of each other’s wardrobes whenever we get the chance.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PIECES IN YOUR CLOSET RIGHT NOW?
I would say my Guizio x Levi’s collab jeans, it’s so hard to find the perfect pair of jeans and I gravitate towards jeans at all times. Also, my Prada loafers are fun to dress up my more casual outfits plus they are comfy. Lastly, my new baby blue With Jéan ‘ryder top’ from their latest collection.
WHAT IS YOUR GO TO SHOE AT THE MOMENT?
At the moment, you will always catch me wearing loafers or sneakers, specifically the Guizio Reebok collab sneakers they are so cute.
WHAT FASHION BRAND WOULD YOU SAY YOUR CLOSET IS FILLED THE MOST WITH AT THE MOMENT?
With Jéan and Danielle Guizio for sure.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER HANDBAG AT THE MOMENT?
My Nano Louis Vuitton Speedy bag, I wear it all the time.
WHAT KIND OF STYLES ARE TRENDING RIGHT NOW?
Honestly, I would say timeless and modest styles are becoming more popular so we will probably see a lot more of that in the industry, which I love and am excited to see more of.
