Evan McMullin to file declaration of candidacy for U.S. Senate at Utah Capitol

Salt Lake City—Evan McMullin will officially file his declaration of candidacy for U.S. Senate on Friday. This event is open to the media.

When: Friday, March 4, at 12:15 p.m. MT
Where: Utah State Capitol, Office of the Lt. Gov., Suite 220
*Media will need to gather outside the office or on the steps of the Capitol with other supporters.
Who: Evan McMullin

“I’m running to defend American commitment to the values that make us strong,” McMullin said. “Increasingly, our values are under threat by political extremes and self-serving politicians. As a result, we’ve become so divided that we’re failing to overcome major challenges – like the high cost of health care, rising inflation, poor air quality, lack of water and various national security threats – thereby putting our future at risk.

“Senator Lee has lost his way in Washington and become a poster child for the politics of division and extremism,” McMullin continued. “He prefers to engage in attention-seeking obstructionism than in constructive service. It’s time to call him home. Utah needs better representation in Washington and Washington needs Utah’s leadership more than ever.

“A majority of Utahns – patriotic Republicans, Democrats and independents – want to replace Mike Lee. We are building this growing coalition to send more effective, unifying leadership to Washington. We invite all to join us.”
