Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Gives Opening Speech for XFL’s Comeback

The XFL, which was formerly owned by Vince McMahon of WWE, is making a comeback with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the new owner. As the new owner, Johnson will give the opening speech for the league’s opening day, which takes place today.

In an Instagram video, Johnson shares a view from his hotel room just across from AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, who he mentions have been very supportive. McMahon declared the XFL bankrupt in 2020, but Johnson teamed up with RedBird Capital and his ex-wife and manager, Danny Garcia, to buy the company.

The XFL has always been committed to innovation, and the NFL’s Executive VP of football operations, Troy Vincent, believes that this partnership will support further development and improvements in the game of football at all levels.

Viewers can watch XFL games on the ABC Network along with ESPN, and the full calendar can be found on their websites, as well as the official XFL website.

According to Johnson, the motto “Blood, Sweat, and Respect” is printed on the collar of all XFL team jerseys, signifying that players must give their all on the field, and respect must be earned, not given away.

Johnson further elaborates that he chose the number 54 for his jersey because football teams consist of only 53 players, and he always considered himself the 54th player who was not yet good enough to make it onto the team. This experience instilled in him a deep drive to prove himself and overcome obstacles, which has continued to motivate him throughout his career.
