COVID Hits Kent – by Mandeep Rai
About Insider had a chance to speak to Kent-based journalist Mandeep Rai and this is what he shared….
It’s a thankless task but someone has got to do it. COVID 19 is threatening our wellbeing so keeping your home clean has never been so important. Hey, I’m Mandeep Rai in Herne Bay and I am blogging about how to keep your home nice and clean and most importantly COVID clean.
You need to make sure you are not only cleaning your home but disinfecting it as well. That’s the important part.
TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS IT IS WISE TO CLEAN THE FOLLOWING SURFACES DAILY:
Toilet seat and the flush button
Hard dining chairs/breakfast bar chairs
The remote control
I use a disinfectant called Zoflora and its sooo good. As it states on Zoflora’s website you can use the disinfectant in many ways. ‘Spray it, soak it, wipe it and mop it’. I tend to dilute it at a ratio of 1 in 40 and I put the solution into an empty spray bottle. I then spray all the surfaces I want to clean. I’m left with clean, disinfected surfaces and a gorgeous smell.
ACCORDING TO THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION, COVID19 CAN LAST ON SURFACES FOR A DIFFERENT LENGTH OF TIME:
Plastic – 5 days
Wood -4 days
Glass – days
Paper- 4 to 5 days
Surgical gloves 4 to 5 days
Stainless steel- 48 hours
We must get disinfecting to ensure all surfaces are super clean and germ-free. We cannot take unnecessary risk against this invisible war.
WE MUST ALSO REMEMBER 3 SIMPLE ACTIONS THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS HIGHLIGHTED TO US:
1. Wash your hands
We need to wash our hands regularly. Using hand sanitiser is not as effective as using soap and water.
2. Face coverings
If we are in an enclosed area we must wear a face mask. We must avoid touching the mask or pulling it down. If you need to remove it you should use the straps to take if off.
3. Make space
We must maintain a 2 metre distance or 1 metre with a face mask or other precautions.
Ask yourself… is your home COVID 19 clean? If not…you know what you need to do.
