Caution- Look Out For These Ingredients In Your Hair Products

Do you take good care of your hair? Remember to comb your hair before you hit your bed and oiling it two hours before you take a head wash. But, still don’t see the desired result?

It can be due to the product you’re using. Being labeled as “anti-hair fall” or terms like rejuvenating or salon professional is not the only thing you should look for. Instead, turn around the bottle and look for its ingredients.

Your hair products can include a number of ingredients. And, if you’re using anything other than organic or herbal, chances are it might be filled with toxic ingredients that are actually harming your hair health.

It is wise to choose the products safely, especially if you have undergone therapies or availed of services like laser cap for hair growth

So, the next time you shop for your shampoo or serums, make sure the product is free from the following toxic ingredients.

Sulfates

If your shampoo or hair conditioner includes ingredients like Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), you are at risk of harming your hair’s health.

Sulfates are amazing chemical cleaners that can help you get rid of greasy hair in one wash. They are also known for forming rich lather when applied to wet hair.

However, because sulfate can take away all the natural oils from your hair and scalp, it can leave the hair excessively dry and make them dull over time.

Mineral Oil

If you are using a product based on mineral oil for hair damage and hair loss, you probably won’t see many results. This is so because while the ingredient can bring a glossy shine to your hair and reduce tangles, it can not get into your hair or roots. In short, the oil can not be penetrated by the hair and thus, can be of no use.

Instead, trying using coconut oil for damaged hair. The oil can penetrate deeply into the scalp and overcome the damage that’s been caused by heating products.

Parabens

Look out for ingredients like propyl-paraben, methyl-paraben or parahydroxybenzoate, as they might cause cancer. While science hasn’t concluded on this fact entirely, and most studies state that it is entirely safe to use, there are studies that show high levels of paraben in patients suffering from cancer or tumor. So, if you want to be safe then sorry, it’s recommended you go for something paraben-free.

Synthetic Fragrances

If your shampoo is labeled with “fragrance”, chances are it’s going to be loaded with many artificial fragrances that might cause more harm than good.

If you have a sensitive scalp, you might suffer from irritation, itchiness or redness if your product is filled with “fragrance”.

It is wise to go fragrance-free, especially if you have a sensitive scalp.

Denatured Alcohols

If your product contains Alcohol Denat or any type of SD Alcohol, you might be suffering from excessive dryness. Denatured alcohols can make your hair dry if applied in vast quantities or used way too frequently.

Though the ingredient is entirely safe for cosmetic use, it might not be best for someone already suffering from a dry scalp.

Summing Up

If you are cautious of what you are using, you must lookout for the ingredients listed above. You can also avoid ingredients like formaldehyde, coal tar and silicones to avoid hair damage and thinning out of hair.

Moreover, if you are someone who has undergone laser therapy through a laser cap for hair growth, it is wise you use the ingredients recommended by your hair specialist.
