HI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS CAMILLE CALVIN IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
A hopeless romantic, a visionary, a believer in the good of all things. An observer of the human experience. I try to funnel all of these things through acting and storytelling.
COULD YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW YOU ENDED UP CHOOSING THIS PARTICULAR LINE OF WORK?
When I was young, I would watch my brother perform in ballets and plays. When we weren’t doing that, we were watching movies, whether if was something that came of TV, or an obscure film that popped up at the art house theater. We’d go to anything. Not knowing what it was about. Just open to the journey that it would take us on. I think that had a big influence.
WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN BECOMING A MEMBER OF DEADLY CHEERS?
Initially I was contacted by the director of the film, Jessica Janos. I’d worked with her in the past. She told my all about the role and the story. She painted a clear picture and the script was enticing. I got the sides and auditioned for the part. Ultimately, it was the director, Jessica Janos, and her incredible vision, she got me onboard.
HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU FIRST RECEIVED THE BEST ACTRESS AWARD FOR YOUR MOVIE “DESIRE LINES?”
Honestly, I was shocked. I didn’t even know that I was nominated. So it was a nice surprise. I remember thinking. Maybe I’m not half bad at this acting thing. I should continue doing this.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO ALWAYS BE IN THE FOREFRONT OF THE MINDS OF YOUR AUDIENCE?
I guess if I thought about it in that way, BEING IN THE FOREFRONT OF THE AUDIENCES MIND” I would feel an immense amount of pressure. I try to disappear as much as possible when I’m working on a role, so that I don’t have to confront such a question. If I allow my personal feeling to observe the reality of what is happening in such a moment, I would surely crumble in anxiety. So it’s Honey Zeal who is in the forefront of the audiences mind in the film Desire lines, Or Brianna in the forefront of Deadly Cheers. Never me.
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO DIRECT IN THE FUTURE, AND WHY?
I’m a huge fan of musicals. Whenever time allows, I’ll attend a local musical or a play. Musicals are the ultimate entertainment experience with triple threat actors. At some point in my career, I would like to try my hand at directing a musical.
WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
It seems like people are always surprised when they hear that I enjoy MMA. I’m a huge fan of the UFC. You can find me on most Saturdays watching the fights. I love the action genre. And hope to be in an action film at some point of my career.
ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
I’m currently in the development phase of a project. It’s very exciting because it’s more hands on for me and so it’s also more challenging in that way. I can’t talk about it yet, but I hope that I will be able to soon.
