5G in India: PM Modi launches 5G services in India

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 exhibition ahead of the formal launch of 5G mobile telephony services in India. The exhibition, starting today, would be held till 4TH of October.

The PM examined the exhibition to understand the potential of 5G technology in India. 5G will roll out in thirteen cities in the first phase, and the technology is expected to be launched all over the country in the next two years.

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune are the thirteen cities where the services would be launched initially. The launch will be made today for the four metro cities: Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai.

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and trade leaders like Mukesh Ambani (Reliance), Sunil Bharti Mittal (Airtel) and Kumar Mangalam Birla (Vodafone) were also present at the launch of the event in the national capital. Sunil Bharti Mittal said that it is an important day and a new era is about to begin.

5G is the next generation of communication networks, which is expected to provide a much better speed than the 4G services. The Prime Minister says the country’s wait for 5G is over. He also added that the benefits of ‘Digital India’ reach every village soon.
